Miley Cyrus untwerks and unplugs on MTV

As the Miley Cyrus tsunami blows off and away, the wreckage will reveal a promising pop star. For real.

Behind the VMA hoopla, the crap video for "Adore You," and the eye roll-worthy Terry Richardson photo shoots, there is a damn good singer. Now, Miley's going to try and show you herself rather than relying on me to convince people.

MTV announced the Wrecking Ball herself will perform a stripped down affair for the network on January 29th, 9pm ET/PT.

Surprise guests will join in on the unplugged party, and who knows, anyone could show up! And while we’re used to raucous teddy-bear dancing like her 2013 MTV Video Music Awards performance or a giant crying face projection at the MTV EMA, this show will include more intimate reinventions of her Bangerz tracks, like “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball.”

And so it was, and the critics were silenced. At least hopefully.

Miley's stripped it down before for renditions of "Jolene" and Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness." Not to mention, that ridiculously good rendition of "We Can't Stop" on Jimmy Fallon featuring the late night host himself and The Roots. Here's that as a reminder:

This could be amazing, folks!
