Three things I want from the 2nd Ariana Grande album

Today via her twitter account, Ariana Grande confirmed she's begun work on her new album, the follow-up to last year's shockingly brilliant Yours Truly.

While her first record is packed with finely crooned, nostalgic R&B tunes, her next will hopefully show off the pipes that made Katy Perry call her the best singer in pop (Stop, I know Katy doesn't sit from the best place to be a vocal authority, but she's right on here).

If Ariana and I texted daily like I imagine she would enjoy doing, I'd tell her these are the three things I want from her next album:

  1. Big vocals: There's a general agreement that Ariana can sing her ass off. But I want to hear the Grande equivalent of "Without You," or "It's All Coming Back To Me." Something that feels like it could overtake the atmosphere of another planet.
  2. More sass: Ariana is sweet. Like, really god damn adorable. But she's also a 20 year-old girl. I know there's some attitude in there. Rather than the girly, Tigerbeat-reading, going steady persona she rocked for most of the Yours Truly songs, I want her to make the boys hate themselves for doing her wrong. Maybe she can even curse a few times?
  3. No duets: I'd like to see this record be about her. I get it, they thought some rent-a-rappers would get her some cred, or something, but she doesn't need them. She can carry the tunes all by herself. Put her in the middle, make the beats bow to her alone.

If anyone reading could get this list to Ariana, I'm sure she'd appreciate and agree with the items above. Thanks.
